Legal information
Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to bookings, purchases and visits to Paralysis Horror Escape Rooms.
These Terms & Conditions apply to services supplied by Screaming Head Productions Limited, trading as Paralysis Escape Rooms.
Please read these terms before making a booking. By completing a booking, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
1. About us
Paralysis Escape Rooms is operated by Screaming Head Productions Limited.
Company number: 11665562
Registered office: 8 Pall Mall, Stoke-on-Trent, England, ST1 1ER
Email: hello@paralysisescaperooms.com
2. Making a booking
Bookings are subject to availability and are not confirmed until payment has been successfully completed and a booking confirmation has been issued.
It is the responsibility of the person making the booking to ensure that all information supplied is accurate, including the selected experience, date, time, number of players and contact details.
The person making the booking is responsible for making the other members of their group aware of these Terms & Conditions and any relevant safety or participation requirements.
3. Prices and payment
The price shown during checkout is the price payable for the selected booking unless an obvious pricing error has occurred.
Online bookings are paid by card. For certain corporate, group or private hire bookings, alternative payment arrangements such as an invoice or deposit may be agreed with us in advance.
A booking is not secured until the required payment or agreed deposit has been received.
4. Age requirements
The minimum age to participate in our escape room experiences is 13.
Guests under the age of 18 must attend with a responsible adult aged 18 or over. The responsible adult must remain at the venue for the duration of the visit.
We may refuse participation where we reasonably believe that the age or supervision requirements have not been met.
5. Arrival and late attendance
Guests should arrive approximately 15 minutes before the booked start time to allow time for check-in, waivers and the safety briefing.
Escape room sessions are scheduled around other customers. Arriving late may therefore result in a reduced playing time.
Where a group arrives sufficiently late that the experience cannot reasonably or safely be delivered without affecting later bookings, we may be unable to provide the full session.
6. Length of experience
Escape room games last for up to 60 minutes unless otherwise stated.
Additional time should be allowed for arrival, briefing, check-in and photographs after the experience.
7. Changes, cancellations and refunds
Escape room bookings are leisure services supplied for a particular date and time. The standard statutory cooling-off period which applies to some online purchases does not generally apply to dated leisure bookings.
Bookings are therefore generally non-refundable where a customer changes their mind or is unable to attend.
If you need to change a booking, please contact us as early as possible. Changes are subject to availability and management discretion.
Where we agree to move or cancel a customer booking, we may issue a voucher to the value of the booking for use on a future eligible booking. Unless otherwise stated, such a rebooking voucher will be valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
Nothing in these terms affects any statutory rights you may have, including where a service has not been provided with reasonable care and skill or where we cancel a booking and cannot provide an appropriate alternative.
8. Cancellation by Paralysis Escape Rooms
In exceptional circumstances we may need to cancel, postpone or alter an experience for operational, staffing, safety, technical or other reasons.
Where we cancel a booking and cannot provide a suitable alternative date or equivalent service, we will offer an appropriate refund or other remedy in accordance with your statutory rights.
9. No-shows
If you do not attend your booking and have not contacted us in advance, the booking will normally be treated as a no-show.
Any voucher, transfer or alternative offered following a no-show is at management discretion.
10. Safety and participation
Our experiences are immersive horror attractions and may include darkness, loud noises, sudden sounds, flashing or sudden lighting effects, jump scares, confined areas, low ceilings, steps and stairs.
Guests must follow all reasonable safety instructions given by staff before and during the experience.
Players must not deliberately damage scenery, props, equipment or other property and must not interfere with safety equipment.
We may stop an experience or remove a participant where their behaviour creates a safety risk, causes deliberate damage, threatens staff or other customers, or seriously disrupts the experience.
11. Live actors
Some experiences include live actors.
Our actors do not intentionally touch players and there is no chasing as part of the normal experience.
Guests must not touch, threaten, strike or otherwise interfere with actors or other members of staff.
12. Leaving an experience
Guests are not physically locked inside an escape room and may leave the experience at any time.
Staff will explain the relevant exit and safety procedures during the briefing.
If a participant chooses to leave during the experience, we cannot guarantee that they will be able to re-enter the game.
13. Medical conditions and pregnancy
Customers should consider whether the nature of the experience is suitable for them before booking.
If you or a member of your group has a medical condition, disability, pregnancy, epilepsy, sensitivity to flashing lights or any other condition which may be affected by darkness, loud noises, sudden scares, confined environments or physical movement, please contact us before booking.
We will provide reasonable information about the experience so that you can make an informed decision about participation.
14. Accessibility
Accessibility differs between rooms and areas of the venue.
Certain experiences or routes through the venue may contain stairs, steps, low ceilings, narrow spaces or other physical restrictions.
Please contact us before booking if you have accessibility requirements so that we can explain the relevant features of the selected experience and discuss any reasonable adjustments which may be available.
15. Waivers
Participants may be required to complete a waiver or participation acknowledgement before taking part.
Where a participant is under 18, appropriate parent or guardian details and consent may also be required.
Completion of a waiver does not remove or reduce any rights or protections which cannot legally be excluded.
16. CCTV and monitoring
Game rooms are monitored by staff during experiences for safety, security and game operation.
CCTV or other recording systems may also operate in communal and public areas of the venue.
Further information about how personal information and recordings are handled will be provided in our Privacy Policy.
17. Photography and social media
We may offer customers the opportunity to have photographs taken before or after an experience.
Where photographs or other identifiable content may be used for marketing or social media purposes, any required consent will be obtained separately.
Refusing optional marketing or social media consent will not prevent a customer from participating in an otherwise valid booking.
18. Personal belongings
Customers remain responsible for their own property while at the venue.
Unless loss or damage is caused by our negligence or another matter for which liability cannot legally be excluded, we are not responsible for personal items which are lost, misplaced or damaged during a visit.
19. Alcohol, drugs and behaviour
We may refuse entry or participation where we reasonably believe a person is intoxicated, under the influence of illegal drugs, or behaving in an abusive, threatening or unsafe manner.
In these circumstances, no refund will normally be provided where the refusal is reasonably necessary for safety or the protection of staff, customers or property.
20. Damage
Customers must treat the venue, props, fixtures and equipment with reasonable care.
We reserve the right to seek payment for deliberate or reckless damage caused by a participant where legally recoverable.
21. Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers are subject to any specific terms shown at the time of purchase.
Unless otherwise stated, gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
Gift vouchers may be transferred to another person but cannot be exchanged for cash.
Where a statutory right to cancel a gift voucher purchase applies, that right will be honoured in accordance with applicable consumer law.
22. Discount codes and promotions
Promotional offers and discount codes may be subject to additional conditions, expiry dates, booking restrictions or availability.
Unless stated otherwise, promotional offers cannot be exchanged for cash or combined with another offer.
23. Force majeure and events outside our control
We will not be responsible for failure or delay in providing a service where this is caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
This may include severe weather, fire, flood, utility failure, serious equipment failure, emergency restrictions, transport disruption or other events which could not reasonably have been avoided.
Where such an event affects a booking, we will take reasonable steps to offer an alternative date, voucher or other appropriate remedy depending on the circumstances and applicable law.
24. Our liability
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
We do not exclude any statutory rights available to consumers.
25. Personal information
We process personal information in connection with bookings, customer service, waivers, safety, payments and operation of the venue.
Further information about how we collect, use, retain and protect personal information will be available in our Privacy Policy.
26. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The terms applying to a booking will normally be those published when the booking was made, except where a change is required by law or does not materially disadvantage the customer.
27. Governing law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Nothing in this section removes any mandatory consumer rights concerning where legal proceedings may be brought.
